Today is my favorite day of the entire year: Christmas Eve.
While many people find significance in this time of year because of their spirituality, I think that December is special because it is the time of year that we retreat to traditions that we have kept our entire lives. For me, this means watching White Christmas, eating Christmas dinner, and reading A Visit From Saint Nicholas — the Little Golden Book my father was given on his first Christmas in 1960. In recent years, I have also begun to understand that this is a wonderful time to spend with family and friends, and to prepare for the New Year.
Whether you celebrate Christmas, or something else, or nothing at all during this time of the year, I wish you a happy, healthy end to your 2013.
