Sighișoara, Romania
September 2015
Length of visit: 1/2 day
The birthplace of Vlad Dracul – Dracula – Sighișoara has become a tourist destination in its own right. We stopped through this town during the day, then continued on the train afterward.
All in all, it’s very walkable from Old Town to the train station, and it’s got some gems, like the clock tower, which has a fantastic little cuckoo clock.
You’ll get beautiful views of the Church on the Hill, as well. Definitely consider stopping through Sighișoara on your trip to Romania, but consider dedicating more time to other towns and cities, like Sibiu and Brașov.
Sighisoara is great for a quick stop during a loger trip, but it’s true that there is not much to see if you were to stay more than a day. It’s a charming, but small town with few tourist attractions.
I absolutely agree! There are some real gems in Romania that deserve more time and attention.
